Surely there will not be a single person who would not know this name. Pierre Cardin is perhaps the most famous and successful designer in the fashion world. He wanted to become an accountant, but became a successful fashion designer who created his own fashion empire.
On July 2, 1922, a man was born in Italy who was destined to change the world of fashion, it was the future innovator and inventor – Pierre Cardin. In 1945, he came to France and worked as a young designer on the creation of theatrical costumes, met Jean Cocteau, an outstanding figure in French literature. A year later, he begins working with Christian Dior, who opens his own fashion house. From this moment begins the ascent of the star Pierre Cardin.
A few years later, Pierre founded his own fashion house, from that moment begins a continuous series of discoveries, searches and innovations, which then turn the fashion world upside down and change it forever. Nowadays, many divide the periods of world fashion before Pierre Cardin and after.
In 1963, the designer created his own ready-to-wear women’s clothing division and from that moment on made it available to a wide range of admirers. A successful business haunts the designer, and he masters more and more new directions.
In 1966, an atelier of wedding and evening dresses appeared in Milan, which was opened by the designer Rocky Moles, very quickly he gained recognition throughout Italy, and a few years later the company moved to the suburbs of Rome and opened its first factory called Radiosa, which is translated from Italian – Shining. It becomes the largest factory in Italy, specializing in the production of wedding and evening dresses and suits. The company produces a line of wedding dresses of the same name – Radiosa, which is firmly established in the minds of Italian brides as the best and becomes an integral attribute of the wedding image of most Italian brides.
Pierre Cardin always wanted to please women in everything, he strove to make clothes more comfortable and practical, more refined and simpler, to be absolutely in all fashionable manifestations. This desire, among many, resulted in the desire to produce dresses for the most important day in the life of every woman – the wedding. After some search for a worthy performer of his design ideas in the field of wedding fashion, Pierre Cardin in 1993 signed a contract for the production of ceremonial clothes with the largest Italian factory Radiosa. Now the personal acquaintance of Rocky Moles and Pierre Cardin is not only a long-standing relationship, but also a desire to please their customers around the world, offering dresses for the most important day in the life of every girl. The Italian roots of the maestro make themselves felt, henceforth the innovative ideas of the fashion house Pierre Cardin are being implemented at the Italian factory Radiosa.
Since then, the company has been producing several classic lines of wedding dresses, traditionally naming them as before: Pierre Cardin, Radiosa, Celeste, and adding one new line every year, responding to the trend of the model year. For Italian brides, who have traditionally fallen in love with the creation of Radiosa, the designers decided to leave the previous names of the collections, but now they are all produced under the auspices and design of Pierre Cardin.
Today, Pierre Cardin’s ceremonial line, which includes bridal and evening lines, is sold all over the world: the USA, Europe, Japan, the Middle East, China, Russia, these are just some of the hundreds of countries fascinated by the designer’s creations.
The designer still continues his work, despite his advanced age, and it is impossible to find another such person who, in his life, was able to create so much new for the fashion world, which is now taken for granted.
Pierre Cardin (Pierre Cardin) patented over 800 different products, his business includes two theaters, restaurants, 8,000 clothing boutiques, perfumes, watches, magazines, furniture, cigarettes and more. The company’s annual turnover is approximately 12 billion dollars.
Time magazine called Cardin a cunning fanatic who managed to write his name on literally anything “that can be nailed, glued, sewn, screwed, tied, replicated or bottled, closed, opened and consumed.” He became the first French designer to conquer Japan (1958), China (1978) and also Russia. He once posed for the cover of Time magazine wearing a Pierre Cardin towel. Today, 160 million people on all continents buy Pierre Cardin products. The borders of Cardin’s empire cannot be seen, even if you climb the highest mountain in France.
Pierre Cardin is one of the few designers whose fashion house is not owned by any company.
Its motto is “Affordable luxury”.
“The clothes that I create are clothes for a life that does not yet exist, for tomorrow,” says the couturier.
